John Schofield: is board certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine and has 33 years experience as a laboratory animal veterinarian working in biomedical research. Together with his wife Lesley, they spent 12 years working in Chicago at the University of Illinois Medical Center. Upon returning to New Zealand in 1991, John was appointed to Director of the Department of Laboratory Animal Sciences at the University of Otago, Dunedin and was responsible for the welfare of research animals at the largest laboratory animal facility in New Zealand.
